walden dissertation WRITING THE PROPOSAL: An Overview Revised September 2003. Sybil M. Delevan, Ph.D. Used with permission of the author. As you embark upon the dissertation process, I offer a few thoughts for your consideration. First, writing the proposal is an vernacular architecture definition, iterative process. There will be many drafts.
Although most students begin with Chapter 1, bear in mind that this chapter is really a synopsis of Chapters 2 and 3. Second, crafting the problem statement is the most difficult part of the dissertation process. It is the reign, research you do for Chapter 2 that will ultimately uncover the “gap in the literature,” position your study, and definition help you refine your research problem. Once you have focused the study vis-a-vis the purpose and the research question(s), you will then be able to settle on supply side, the tradition of definition, inquiry. Is your question open-ended (suggesting a qualitative approach) or are you comparing two or more groups or positing a relationship between independent and dependent variables (a quantitative approach)? Third, please remember that a well-developed research proposal is like a blueprint rendered by an architect. Upon approval, any researcher should be able to conduct the study based on the proposal you submitted just as any contractor should be able to side, construct the building designed by vernacular definition the architect. Analysis! I provide this analogy to aid in your understanding of the level of and attention to detail required for committee approval. Lastly, the dissertation, which is generally five chapters in length, is the competency demonstration for the Doctor of Philosophy degree. Architecture Definition! Unlike the external examinations required by berger paints other professions, for example, the bar exam for attorneys or the medical exam for physicians, the dissertation process and final oral presentation is administered internally by a committee of your peers. The goal is to demonstrate that you can design, conduct, and report research in your area of expertise.
Part I: The Proposal. Chapter 1: Introduction. Chapter 1 is an overview of the proposed research; it is titled “Introduction.” Generally speaking, this chapter is vernacular heavily cited and does not contain any first person pronouns, except in personal or value-based statements set forth in the assumptions or delimitations sections. The latter may be relaxed if your study is a qualitative study. However, be sure to clear this style of writing with your chair/mentor before you commence the writing of the proposal. Also note that this chapter should not be written using language such as “this researcher” or “in this study I will…” For the proposal, this chapter is written in the future tense—it tells the reader what you are proposing to do. However, upon completion of reign of terror, your research, the vernacular, first three chapters must be rewritten in of waterfall, the past tense for the dissertation.
The dissertation, which includes the revised proposal, tells the reader what you did in the course of the research process. This chapter begins with an introductory section, which should not be subtitled. Definition! The objective of this section is to orient the reader. The goal is to provide an overview of why your topic (problem) is define side important, a brief history of the barriers related to the problem, for example, cultural limitations or relevant economic issues, and address the vernacular definition, social change significance of the research. The two questions that it must address—implicitly—are the infamous “so what” and berger paints “who cares” questions. This section lays the groundwork for your problem statement. As for architecture definition page length, this section should be no more that 2-3 pages in length. Note that some faculty may ask you to combine the introduction with the background of the problem (see below), followed by the problem statement. The purpose of stalin, this section is to distill the problem under investigation into a single, declarative sentence that neutrally identifies what will be studied. The problem statement is the most important part of your study.
The problem emerges from the definition, literature review and the logic for why it is a problem must flow from the introduction. This section may begin or end with “The problem is…” Be sure this section reflects what is problematic. It should be no longer than 200 words. As you develop your problem statement, keep asking yourself what the rationale is for doing your research. Remember that you dissertation research must make an fundamental attribution error, original contribution to scholarly research. Vernacular Architecture Definition! Questions you may ask when reading the literature to flush out the problem include the following: 1. What is the issue that is of waterfall model of concern to society or in architecture, one of the side, major societal institutions? 2. What important issue in my field or the literature is architecture definition theoretically unclear or in fundamental attribution error, dispute?
3. What situation is professionally disturbing or worthy of study? 4. What intervention or program is in need of evaluation or assessment? According to Merriam (1997), there are three basic types of research problems: 1. Conceptual problem . Vernacular Architecture! At the stalin of terror, core of a conceptual research problem are two juxtaposed elements that are conceptually or theoretically inconsistent. Vernacular! For example, The Equal Pay Act of 1963 requires that men and women make equal wages for equal pay. Despite this federal mandate, women working in reign, ABC state government are making 75% of their male counterparts. 2. Action problem . This type of vernacular architecture definition, problem emerges when a conflict presents no clear choice or alternative course of action. For example, the goal of the welfare reform legislation enacted in 1996 was to encourage personal responsibility by promoting work, reducing nonmarital births, and strengthening and supporting marriage.
However, in many parts of the U.S., the number of full-time jobs that are needed to move people from public assistance to stalin reign of terror, the workforce simply do not exist. IN other parts of the vernacular architecture, U.S., there are sufficient jobs but transportation and child care are not available. 3. Value problem . This type of problem arises from undesirable outcomes. For example, the growing disparity in health outcomes in the United States between those who have access to medical care and those who do not due to the linking of health insurance with employment. Lastly, a good problem statement will hint at the nature of your study, for example, is it historical, experimental, correlational, or evaluative research? I offer the following, which has been revised by advantage of waterfall various Walden faculty (Linda Crawford and Marilyn Simon to name two), as an example: There is a problem in ______________________ (societal organization/institution/policy, etc).
Specifically, the vernacular architecture definition, problem is (name the problem). Currently, __________________ (describe the current situation and/or what is currently being done to address the stalin of terror, problem). However, ______________ (describe continuance of problem). This problem impacts __________ (name population) because ____________ (describe impact). There are many possible factors contributing to this problem, among which are _____________________________ (list possible lines of research related to the problem). This study will contribute to vernacular definition, the body of knowledge needed to address this problem by _______________________ (identify the study focus which will be specified in the research questions). Note : Your committee will judge your dissertation on the degree to which you find the answer to the problem you pose and, thus, achieve the supply policy, intended purpose of your research.
The purpose of this section is to provide the reader with a history of how the problem has been dealt with in the past and to justify its importance as a pressing social concern or from a theoretical perspective. It draws on the literature you will review for Chapter 2. A mini synopsis of groupings of key studies that have examined the problem is architecture useful. Try not to focus on single studies. Rather, the goal is to present a broader perspective on the problem and not to review the literature in detail. Identify the deficiencies or gaps found in the review of the literature. Fundamental Attribution! Were key variables overlooked? Is an alternative approach to understanding the problem useful? How would your proposed study remedy the deficiencies you’ve identified? Remember that this section should be heavily cited as you are drawing on the scholarly research in architecture definition, your field.
On average, the background section on the problem should be about 3-4 pages. The purpose of your study should mirror the advantage of waterfall, significance of the problem (see later section). Keep in mind that the purpose is different than the vernacular definition, problem. The purpose statement is the central idea or intent of your study. It defines “why you want to do the study and what you intend to accomplish” (Locke, Spiraduso, Silverman, 2000, p. 9).
A well-articulated purpose statement sets forth the objectives of the study as well as its intent. You may supplement your purpose statement with additional information for clarification, but a single sentence should capture the fundamental attribution error, essence of the vernacular definition, study . This statement will be reiterated in each of the chapters. Note that the purpose statement differs for quantitative and qualitative studies. For a quantitative design, you will set forth the relationship between the variables under study (both independent and attribution dependent) in vernacular, both the problem statement and in the purpose statement. This section should be about advantage, 350-400 words.
The purpose statement for a quantitative study differs from that of a qualitative study in language and focus. Generally, a succinct quantitative purpose statement will identify the research method, theory to architecture definition, be tested (if applicable), the dependent, independent, and controlling variables to be compared or the relationships to be tested, the participants, and the research setting. A sample purpose statement that illustrates the berger paints, above elements follows: The purpose of this _____ (e.g., experimental) study is to test the vernacular architecture definition, theory of _________that _________ (compares/relates) ________ (independent variable) to ______ (dependent variable), controlling for _____ (if a controlling or intervening variable) for _________ (participants) at _______ (site of study). The purpose statement in a qualitative study will make explicit the central idea of the attribution, study and how it will be studied. The focus of a qualitative study is a single idea or phenomenon versus relationships or comparisons. Qualitative studies seek to explore, describe, or understand a phenomenon, or examine the meaning of an idea or the experience of people. The language, unlike that used in a quantitative study, is nondirectional. One of the key components of vernacular, a qualitative purpose statement is the tentative definition of the central idea or phenomenon to fundamental attribution error, be studied. Similar to vernacular, the quantitative purpose statement, both the participants and the setting should be included. A sample purpose statement that includes the above elements follows:
The purpose of this __________ (e.g., case study) study is to ____________ (understand, describe, explore) ___________ (central idea or phenomenon) for _________ (participants) at __________ (site of study). The _________ (central idea) is defined as _____________ (general definition). § Significance of the Study. This section defines the contribution of your study to the knowledge base of the discipline, field, or profession. This is a crucial component of Chapter 1 as it provides the reader with the rationale for why you are conducting your study and how you anticipate your results will be important. This section is an formal curriculum, expansion of the vernacular definition, problem statement as it sets in context the attribution, importance and implications of architecture definition, your study for researchers, practitioners, and policy makers.
Two questions to ask when writing this section are: What contribution would this study make? Who will benefit from the findings of this study? The key to stalin of terror, the significance section is to consider how your study will inform research, practice, and/or policy. Three or four well-articulated reasons for vernacular definition how your study will add to the scholarly literature in the field are essential. This is an ideal place to address the social significance of your study (social change) as well. Again, this section should be about 350-400 words in length, but no more than 2 pages.
§ Nature of the fundamental attribution, Study or Methodology. This section provides a synopsis of the research design as developed in Chapter 3. It distinguishes the tradition of inquiry or methodology selected from architecture, other traditions or methodologies that could have been used, for example, quantitative versus qualitative. It also provides the justification for the appropriateness of the approach and further delineates the goals of the study. A concise statement concerning the selection of the participants and data collection and analysis procedures should be included. Of Waterfall! If you are using a survey instrument for data collection, then be sure to vernacular, add a sentence or two stating the berger paints, issues related to the reliability and validity of the instrument as discussed in Chapter 3.
A word of caution, however, is in order. Too often students try to write this section before writing Chapter 3. While it may be possible to definition, write a rough draft for your chair/mentor’s perusal if you are working on your proposal on berger paints, a chapter by chapter basis, please remember that most faculty will review this section while reading Chapter 3. Vernacular Definition! Any changes made in Chapter 3—at any point in the research process—must be reflected in Chapter 1. The same applies for any revisions you make in Chapter 1. Remember, research is an iterative process; you will be revising various sections of the proposal and dissertation until final approval of each of these documents. Generally speaking, there are three basic types of questions that research projects address: descriptive, relational, and causal. § Descriptive : When the primary purpose of a study is to describe what is going on formal curriculum, or what exists. § Relational: When a study is designed to look at the relationships between two or more variables. § Causal : When a study is designed to determine whether one or more variables (program or treatment) causes or affects one or more outcome variables. In quantitative studies, research questions are used to focus or narrow the study. A well-written research question will include the variables that will be described, related, or compared in the study.
Hypotheses are predictions that flow from the research questions and may be written in a directional format or stated in the null. The independent variable(s) precede the dependent variable(s). Architecture Definition! If both descriptive and inferential questions are posed, then the former precedes the latter. Lastly, remember that you must have a hypothesis for each research question. The final questions/hypothesis developed in model, Chapter 3 must appear in this section of Chapter 1 verbatim. In qualitative studies, a single central question is generally followed by a set of subquestions. One or two “grand tour” questions (Creswell, 1994) serve to vernacular, guide the study so as to not limit the inquiry.
Good qualitative questions generally ask “how” or “what.” Remember that well-written qualitative research questions use nondirectional language and relate the central question to of waterfall, the strategy of inquiry and vernacular focus on a single idea or phenomenon. Exploratory verbs position the question with the strategy, for example, grounded theory seeks “to discover,” ethnography seeks “to understand,” case study seeks “to explore,” phenomenology seeks “to describe experiences,” and narrative research “reports” (Creswell, 1994, 1998) § Conceptual or Theoretical Framework (2-3 pages) This section of the proposal describes the lens through which the problem is viewed by you, the researcher. The conceptual framework of a study describes the worldviews, theories, perspectives, and/or constructs used in prior research studies, which you will adopt and adapt for your study. Attribution Error! Merriam (1997) speaks to this and takes it a step further by making the role of the researcher explicit: “How the investigator views the world affects the entire process—from conceptualizing a problem, to collecting and analyzing data, to vernacular architecture definition, interpreting the findings” (p.
53). Guba and Lincoln (1985) also discuss the importance of disclosing personal preferences: “It is good medicine, we think, for researchers to make their preferences clear. To know how a researcher construes the shape of the social world and aims to give us a credible account of it is to know our conversational partner.” All studies, whether qualitative or quantitative, must have some type of conceptual framework. For example, the lens can be a worldview, such as Marxism or democracy, or it can be a theory, such as those of Freud, Piaget, Fiere, V.O. Key, Herbert Simon, and Keynes, that explains certain phenomena in considerable detail. Define Supply! Research perspectives, such as those of social psychologists, cognitive scientists, and economists, can also serve as a lens. Or, depending on the problem and vernacular purpose of the flowers walker analysis, a study, constructs can be used to conceptualize the phenomena of architecture definition, interest, such as poverty, social isolation, and fundamental attribution error leadership. In a quantitative study, theories are usually employed deductively and need to be explicitly stated in Chapter 1. The researcher generally presents a theory, establishes data collection procedures to collect the data to test the theory, and then revisits the theory at vernacular architecture definition the end of the study to confirm or disconfirm the hypotheses. Although theory can be introduced in various sections of the berger paints, first chapter—in the definition, introduction or in the background—it is recommended that theory be introduced in this section so that the reader can identify how it relates to your study.
Questions you need to think about when writing this section include: Is there a theoretical framework that can be used to raise questions about the problem under study? Does a particular theoretical perspective guide the define supply side, research and vernacular architecture suggest the testing of particular variables? Does the analysis, study move from the definition, general to the particular or from the formal curriculum, particular to the general? The key is to understand that theory is often used as the framework for architecture definition organizing the stalin, research and, as such, drives the types of questions asked and the procedures for collecting data. A theoretical framework is simply a compilation of definition, interrelated concepts, akin to a theory but not as well developed. Researchers use theoretical frameworks to define side policy, guide research in determining which variables will be measured and which statistical relationships will be tested. Architecture Definition! In An Institutionalist Take on State Activism in advantage, Economic Development… James J. Wilson develops a theoretical framework from the literature. He critiques previous theory as being inadequate, and then uses the literature to develop the constructs for his framework. He writes: I develop a theoretical framework of state activism in economic development using constructs from the extant literatures on growth theory, economic policy, and international development. These constructs are then organized within an institutional framework (see http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa5479/is_/ai_n28756950 ).
Taking this example a bit further, Wilson moved from construct to concept to variable. The last step would involve measurement of the variable developed from the initial construct. Establishment of a strong state. In a qualitative study an inductive mode of development tends to be used and a conceptual (versus theoretical) framework may be appropriate. The qualitative researcher is typically more concerned with building a theory than testing it (Eisenhardt, 1989). Theory can be introduced at the outset of the study, but it will generally be modified and adjusted as the study proceeds. If theory is vernacular definition presented, then it must be consistent with the type of design used.
Remember that in a qualitative study you are building theory—not testing it—this shapes the research process and creates a visual model of the theory as it emerges. Reign Of Terror! At the completion of the research, you may be able to compare and contrast your theory with existing theories. Bear in mind t hat in some qualitative studies, for example, phenomenology or grounded theory, there may be no explicit theoretical orientation and vernacular architecture definition the goal of a proposed study would be to develop theory. Accordingly, a quantitative proposal will be organized a bit differently than a qualitative study. On average, this section should be 2-3 pages in length, but this will vary.

Patrick and T.M. Wickizer, Community and Health, p. 67, in Society and Health, B.C. Amick et al., eds. Retrieved 28 August 2003, from http://www.nap.edu/readingroom/books/concept/ In this section, the researcher defines any terms or concepts that may not be understood by someone outside of the field of study. Architecture Definition! Be sure to briefly define terms when first used in formal curriculum, the proposal; however, reserve the formal definitions for this section of the manuscript.
Be sure to vernacular definition, define all key terms in this section, not just those used in Chapter 1. Common terms may be defined in the body of the text. For proper formatting, be sure to consult The Proposal and Dissertation Guidebook at http://inside.waldenu.edu/c/Student_Faculty/StudentFaculty_4276.htm. This section describes the various assumptions the researcher is making in advantage of waterfall, the proposed study. Be sure to explicitly set forth what it is that you are assuming. Additionally, you must provide a sound rationale for vernacular architecture definition each assumption, incorporating multiple perspectives when appropriate. Typical assumptions include statements such as “participants answered the questionnaire honestly” or issues related to the generalizability of the study or other pertinent issues not under the control of the researcher. Read your proposal carefully as assumptions are often stated as you develop the attribution error, proposal. Be sure to move them to this section (1-2 paragraphs).
§ Scope, Delimitations, and Limitations. The scope of the study defines the boundaries the researcher has established for the study and vernacular definition provides a rationale for those boundaries. The Flowers! Delimitations are used to vernacular architecture, narrow the scope of the study, for example, focusing on specific variables or participants. Limitations are used to alert the reader to potential weaknesses in the study beyond the berger paints, control of the researcher as such relate to data collection and analysis. Remember that the variables that are being tested will also set a limit on your findings. Another limitation is time. A study that is conducted over a certain interval of time is a snapshot dependent on conditions occurring during that time. The researcher must explain how the definition, limitations will be handled so as not to affect the outcome of the study (1-2 paragraphs each) . The chapter ends with a summary of the proposed research and introduces the reader to the remaining chapters.
Be sure to summarize each of the key sections of the chapter. Start with a restatement of the purpose statement (verbatim) and tie this to the problem. Formal Curriculum! Then link this to the conceptual/theoretical framework, the nature and significance of the study, and the methods you plan to vernacular architecture, use. Lastly, be sure you transition the reader to Chapters 2 and formal 3 in the proposal. In the dissertation, this section will be rewritten to vernacular architecture definition, include Chapters 4 and 5. Chapter 2: Literature Review. Each chapter has an introduction that reiterates the berger paints, purpose of the research study.
The introduction refers to the major sections or subsections that will follow in the chapter. Use section headings and definition subheadings to guide the reader through the literature based on how you organized the literature. Supply Policy! Be sure to consult the APA manual (5 th ed.) for proper format. The order of the review should range from the general to the specific and should relate directly to the questions to be answered. Be sure to set the review within the topic’s historical context.
At a minimum, be sure to include a paragraph that identifies the electronic databases searched and definition the keywords used (e.g., ERIC, EBSCO, Infotrac, ProQuest). The goal of this chapter is to establish the advantage model, need for the study and to architecture definition, provide the reader with a synthesis of the current research on your topic, including the study’s theoretical rationale. The literature review should be an exhaustive survey of prior scholarly work conducted in the area of interest. It must be structured to support the error, study’s approach to the topic. Vernacular! Remember that there is a vast body of literature for nearly every topic and any comment suggesting that an area has yet to be addressed is fundamental attribution error not acceptable. Conversely, be sure to focus the literature review on a narrow topical and/or theoretical area to avoid extraneous or irrelevant material. Vernacular! Either way, develop some type of organizing framework for writing this chapter. You may organize by schools of thought, themes in the literature, or variables. A good proposal will use the formal, literature to establish the need for vernacular architecture definition the study. The Flowers Analysis! It will also describe the historical and philosophical development of the field so the proposal reflects an adequate knowledge of other research related to architecture definition, the problem.
Unsolved problems and unresolved issues must be identified and any gaps in the literature explained. The literature review explicates the study’s conceptual and/or theoretical framework and the variables. Be sure to include information on side, methodological issues, for example, sampling (including size and method of vernacular definition, selection) and data collection and berger paints analysis, as well as the architecture definition, findings. Note, too, that the literature review must include studies related to the methodology to be used in the proposed study, especially if instruments will be used to collect the data. Issues related to reliability and curriculum validity must also be addressed. Sometimes there is definition a small amount of literature on the flowers by alice walker, a particular topic. If this is the situation, then place your topic within a larger context, or, if appropriate, use an interdisciplinary approach. Use quotations sparingly, as this is a synthesis of the research related to the problem. The literature review is architecture definition comprehensive in coverage and by alice walker draws from vernacular architecture, primary, peer-reviewed scholarly professional journal articles.
The number of define supply, references should reflect sources written within the past three to vernacular architecture definition, five years as well as any “classics” on the topic. Although there is no magical formula for define supply policy the number of references that should be cited, most dissertations usually include 100-200 articles. Vernacular Architecture! These should include primary sources, such as journal articles, monographs, papers presented at model conferences, specialized indexes, bibliographies, abstracts, and reviews of research, and secondary sources, for example, expert compilations, meta analyses, and interpretations of primary information when relevant. The conclusion to Chapter 2 must make explicit how the literature review contributes to your study, what variables are of architecture definition, interest, and of waterfall the gap in the literature that your study is intended to vernacular architecture definition, fill. This concluding section, if well-written, serves as the cornerstone for the significance of your study and should be similar to what appears in fundamental error, Chapter 1. A restatement of the purpose of your study or the research question often helps to refocus the architecture, reader. At a minimum, this chapter must demonstrate:
1. The relationship of the proposed study to past and current research. 2. How the proposed study will extend the advantage of waterfall, body of knowledge. 3. Definition! How the proposed research is distinctive from previous research. 4. The social change implications. The summary of Chapter 2 reminds the reader of the major points covered in the literature review and what is reign of terror important for your study.
It must also transition the reader to architecture definition, the Chapter 3. Chapter 3: Methodology. As noted earlier, each chapter has an stalin reign of terror, introduction that reiterates the purpose of the research study and refers to the major sections or subsections of the chapter. Architecture! The methods chapter is the most specific part of the proposal and should describe the essential steps you will follow in conducting your research. In general, there are three approaches to research: quantitative, qualitative, and mixed method. The following section identifies the format for advantage the quantitative and qualitative proposal. If a mixed-method design is chosen, the architecture definition, format will incorporate elements of attribution, both. Numerous texts on architecture definition, this topic are available. An excellent resource when starting out is John Creswell (1994, 1998, 2003), as he succinctly captures the nuances of the methods in a user friendly way. His references to original works, which you will need to consult once you’ve narrowed your approach, are also excellent.
The research design must be fully developed. The Flowers By Alice Walker Analysis! You must justify the definition, use of a specific quantitative or qualitative tradition (see Appendix 1) of inquiry as well as why you rejected the other approach. The design selected must flow logically from the problem statement. It must establish the relationships and the flowers walker sequencing among elements and, within the theoretical framework, the definition, study variables (if quantitative or mixed-method design). This section follows the introduction and describes and justifies the formal curriculum, rationale for the use of the specific tradition of inquiry. Vernacular Definition! It also explains the curriculum, appropriateness of the research design selected for achieving the desired outcomes and architecture definition explains the nuances of the methodology. Remember, you must discuss why other traditions/designs were not used. The research question(s) must be clearly stated as well as your hypotheses. There must be continuity between the stalin reign of terror, way the questions are written here and in Chapters 1, 4, and 5.
Population and Sample. This section provides an overview of the population and the procedures used in selecting the sample. Be sure to indicate how many participants will be included in the sample and any information that may be unique regarding your participants. Be sure to identify the type of vernacular, sample you will be using, for example, random, convenience, snowball, et cetera. By Alice Analysis! If you are doing survey research, you must include a paragraph on the logic of how the sample size was determined.
This section explains the instruments used to collect the data to answer the vernacular definition, research questions. It must also: 1. Establish the berger paints, validity and reliability of the definition, instruments. 2. Formal Curriculum! Explain the rationale for each instrument’s selection. 3. Present a justification for any standardized instruments used. 4. Discuss any pilot study of the instrument planned or involvement of a panel of experts. This section identifies the independent and dependent variables set forth in vernacular architecture, the research questions and hypotheses. Advantage Of Waterfall! The measurement scale of vernacular definition, each variable (nominal, ordinal, interval, and/or ratio) should be noted as well.
The relationship between the hypotheses or research questions and the problem must be established. If a model is being tested, the model should be specified in this section. In this section, a justification for the methods used in data collection and data analysis is presented. Fundamental Error! You may choose to have two distinct sections, one discussing data collection and the other describing the vernacular architecture, analysis of the data, or you may choose to combine the sections. If statistical software will be used, be sure to identify the program. Threats to Validity. This section explains how the research design achieves its intended purpose. There are several threats to fundamental, the validity of a quantitative study.
Four commonly discussed threats include (Creswell, 2003): 1. Internal validity. 2. External validity. 3. Construct validity. 4. Statistical conclusion validity. Feasibility and Appropriateness. This section explains the means by which the researcher will conduct the research. Vernacular Architecture Definition! Be sure to address issues such as research support, services, costs, if appropriate, and any other resources that may be used by the researcher. Informed Consent and Ethical Considerations. This section should outline the steps taken to ensure the of waterfall model, protection of the participants and the university as such relates to confidentiality and vernacular informed consent. A complete copy of the the flowers analysis, Request to the Institutional Review Board for Approval to Conduct Research must be included as an appendix.
You may review the vernacular architecture definition, university’s guidelines on the flowers, Ethical Standards of Research at http://inside.waldenu.edu/c/Student_Faculty/StudentFaculty_597.htm . The summary of architecture definition, Chapter 3 reminds the reader of the major points covered in each section of this chapter. For the dissertation, this section will transition the reader to Chapters 4 and 5. This section is the berger paints, same for any of the vernacular architecture, approaches. The goal is to describe and justify the rationale for the use of the specific tradition of inquiry and research design. It also explains the appropriateness of the research design for achieving the desired outcomes of the study and explains the approach to be used. Be sure to discuss why other traditions/designs were not used. Sampling Strategy and Participant Selection. This section parallels the “population/sample” section of the quantitative proposal. Generally, participants for formal curriculum a qualitative study are selected for vernacular architecture definition a purpose.
It is, however, crucial to delineate the sampling strategy used as this varies with the purpose of the research, for example, purposeful, convenience, or snowball. The Researcher’s Role. Unlike quantitative research, where the researcher maintains distance from the participants vis-a-vis the data collection instrument, the qualitative researcher must acknowledge and address the various logistical, ethical, and personal issues unique to berger paints, this tradition of inquiry as the vernacular architecture definition, researcher collects the data. Some of the issues to be addressed include biases, values, and one’s personal interest in the research topic. Data Collection Procedures. This section outlines how the data will be collected. In particular, the boundaries of the study should be identified as well as the supply side policy, research site(s).
The type(s) of data to be collected as well as the form should also be described, for example, observations, interviews, documents, or audio visual materials. Included in vernacular, this section is a description of of waterfall, how the data will be recorded and stored. Architecture! Be sure to identify whether the data will be collected and recorded using handwritten notes, audio taping, or video taping. Data Analysis and Interpretation. This section discusses how the data will be analyzed. Stalin! Specifically, you must describe how you anticipate preparing the data for analysis, the different type of analyses to be conducted (e.g., with-in case and cross-case analyses), how the data will be represented (e.g., coding) and interpreted. If some type of computer software will be used, then be sure to identify the program.
Evidence of Quality. This section explains how the research design achieves its intended purpose. The phrase “evidence of quality” is used to describe the quality criteria that will be used to ensure the accuracy and architecture definition the credibility of the findings of a qualitative study. Remember that validity does not mean the policy, same thing in vernacular, qualitative inquiry as in quantitative inquiry. There are eight strategies that are frequently employed to check the accuracy of the advantage model, findings of a qualitative study. Each must be explicitly addressed.
Creswell (2003) lists these as: 3. Thick description. 4. Researcher bias. 5. Discrepant information. 6. Prolonged time in the field. 7. Vernacular Definition! Peer debriefing. 8. External auditing. Feasibility and berger paints Appropriateness. This section explains the means by which the researcher will conduct the research. Be sure to address issues such as research support, services, costs, if appropriate, and definition any other resources used by the researcher. Informed Consent and Ethical Considerations.
This section should outline the steps taken to ensure the protection of the participants and the university as such relates to confidentiality and informed consent. A complete copy of the Request to the Institutional Review Board for Approval to Conduct Research must be included as an appendix. You may review the university’s guidelines on Ethical Standards of Research at http://inside.waldenu.edu/c/Student_Faculty/StudentFaculty_597.htm . The summary of Chapter 3 reminds the reader of the major points covered in formal, each section of this chapter. For the dissertation, this section will transition the reader to vernacular, Chapters 4 and 5. A Few Last Comments. In summary, the methods for data collection and analysis must be appropriate for the type of formal curriculum, research design proposed and a justification offered.
The presentation of the research design and the study’s implementation must be sufficiently thorough to enable replication of the proposed study. Architecture! Be sure to discuss the social impact of your study. How will your findings be used? Who will benefit from your study? How will your findings affect the research problem? What could be done after the study to ameliorate certain conditions? What further studies will most likely need to be done after yours is complete? How will the information you obtained affect your sample, the population, or society? With the exception of advantage of waterfall, research that uses secondary data, all research involving human participants must be done with great care. The philosophical underpinnings for the current laws governing human subjects research are set forth in The Belmont Report (1979).
Unlike the definition, Nuremberg Code or the Helsinki Declaration , which delineate guidelines or rules, The Belmont Report establishes three fundamental ethical principles that are relevant to all research involving human subjects: 1. Respect for Persons. These three principles provide a comprehensive framework for ethical decision-making in research involving human subjects or participants. For institutions that receive federal funding of any kind, federal law requires that all proposed research be approved by an authorizing board. This board is often called an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Research reviewed by an IRB is classified as being exempt, or as research requiring an expedited or full board review. The risk levels and types of review required are set forth in the table below. Determining the Level of fundamental attribution, Review. Less than minimal. Expedited or Full board.
Greater than minimal. Vulnerable participants are subjects like children under the age of architecture definition, 19, mentally incompetent participants, pregnant women and fetuses, prisoners, and others with conditions that might compromise their well being. Exempt studies are common in many work place settings, for example, when a researcher solicits information from professional adults in a working setting. If the participants are 19 years old or younger and if there is risk associated with participating in a study, then a more detailed review processes are required. Remember that all studies involving human participants require informed consent. Be sure to review Walden University’s IRB policies and procedures for conducting research. PART II: THE DISSERTATION (This section is a draft only and needs to be more fully developed.) The quantitative dissertation is typically comprised of five chapters.
A qualitative dissertation, however, may have six or more chapters. The latter is determined based on research design considerations and in consultation with your chair/mentor. Note that the final manuscript must be written in berger paints, the past tense. This requires the rewriting of vernacular, Chapters 1, 2, and curriculum 3. Chapter 4: Analysis of the Data. This section begins with an introduction that is not subtitled. The purpose of this chapter is to definition, report the analysis of the study and to verify the results.
The major themes of the research should be introduced. This section opens with a restatement of the purpose statement and research questions/hypotheses followed by a step-by-step report of the data gathering process. The data can be organized to relate results to the research questions or, if qualitative, by categories or themes. If quantitative, this chapter reports the analysis of all data from descriptive statistics to the findings of the statistical tests. It ends with a summary and transitions the reader to Chapter 5.
Chapter 5: Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations. This chapter concludes the dissertation, positioning the findings of the study within the formal curriculum, broader literature on the topic. It is not an afterthought or appendage; rather, it is the culmination of the investigation issuing from the research questions and the research design and analysis. It should provide scholars, practitioners, and policy makers with an overview of the insights into the implications of the inquiry as well as the definition, recommendations, supported and stalin of terror justified, that emerged from the analyses and findings. The researcher can introduce interpretations and discussions that highlight the vernacular, importance, significance, and meaning of the inquiry to various constituents such as administrators, managers, employers, business leaders, government agencies, communities, government agencies, business leaders, and others. The broader social significance of the research should also be addressed.
The references should reflect research written within the last three to five years. As noted in the section on the literature review, your reference list must include primary and secondary sources and be formatted per the guidelines set forth by the university. Specific formatting is required for berger paints materials obtained from the internet. All links must be updated as of the submission date of the final document to the university. Each reference cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list. Be sure to include copies of all instruments and authorizations in this section. A complete copy of the Institutional Review Board materials should also be included as well as a copy of the vernacular architecture, researcher’s CV. Campbell, D.T.

The list that follows highlights some of the architecture, research methods that can be used to solve the problem you are investigating. It is not an advantage, exhaustive listing; rather, it is a list of basic descriptions of research types. At the end of this listing are some websites that you may consult for further information. Once you select a methodology you will need to architecture, obtain textbooks on the method as well as articles from methodology journals that explain the approach in greater detail.
§ Action research: Research is based on berger paints, a grass-roots problem negotiated between the researcher and the researched. § Case study research : The background, programs, current conditions, and environmental interactions of one or more classrooms, communities, schools, or institutions are observed, recorded, and analyzed -- all attempting to find patterns of internal and external influences. § Causal-Comparative research : The objective is to identify causal relationships among variables that cannot be manipulated. Variables that cannot be changed normally are variables such as sex, origin of birth, ethnicity, etc. Vernacular Architecture! Causal research is used to determine whether variables cause or affect one or more outcome variables. Fundamental Error! This study involves no direct manipulation.
§ Comparison research : Two or more existing situations are studied to determine their similarities and differences. For example, two programs may be contrasted with each other to see which works better. § Content analysis : The researcher quantifies and analyzes the presence, meanings and relationships of definition, such words and concepts, then make inferences about the messages within the texts, the writer(s), the audience, and even the culture and reign of terror time of which these are a part . § Correlation-prediction research : Statistically significant correlations are sought and architecture interpreted between and among a number of organizational causes. § Design based research or Decision analysis: (see**) The practitioner and advantage of waterfall researcher models merge to produce meaningful change in context of architecture, practices. It is define supply a way to link process to outcomes in a particular setting. The decision analysis field has often encountered difficulties in transforming theoretical ideas into practical decision support tools. § Delphi research : The focus is future-oriented. Architecture Definition! The Delphi technique was originally used to target future problems and foresee solutions. It utilizes the knowledge of experts, combining it and redistributing it, the study opens up doors and forces new thought processes to emerge.
It also allows for respondents to see how closely they responded to the rest of the field of experts and to formal, justify their train of thought (McKillip, 1987). § Descriptive research: This does not fit neatly into the definition of either quantitative or qualitative research methodologies, but instead it can utilize elements of both, often within the same study. Definition! Descriptive research involves gathering data that describe events and then organizes, tabulates, depicts, and stalin describes the architecture, data collection. § Evaluation research : Research is advantage of waterfall undertaken to vernacular architecture, determine whether a program or curriculum followed the policy, prescribed procedures and achieved the stated outcomes. § Ethnographic : The researcher looks at an entire group—more specifically, a group that shares a common culture—in depth and studies the group in its natural setting for a lengthy period of time, often several months or even several years. The focus of investigation is on the everyday behaviors (e.g., interactions, language, rituals) of the people in the group, with intent to identify cultural norms, beliefs, social structures, and vernacular other cultural patterns. § Experimental research : One or more variables are manipulated and the results analyzed in, hopefully, a scientific manner. § Factor analyses: The researcher analyzes interrelationships within a set of variables or objects to construct a few hypothetical variables (or objects), called factors, that are supposed to berger paints, contain the definition, essential information in a larger set of observed variables to berger paints, obtain a small number of factors will usually account for architecture approximately the same amount of information as do the much larger set of original observations.
§ Hermeneutic research: Activities and events are seen as a text, and studied for what they mean, what they mean to those involved in them, and attribution error what they mean to others. § Historical research: The life activities of an organization or person are related, with insights about their significance and meanings being explicated . § Meta-analysis research : Data are collected from several studies on a similar area to find patterns and architecture formulate principles whose goal is to guide future organizational decisions and actions. § Organizational design research : New systems or programs are constructed, demonstrated, tested, and evaluated. § Phenomenology : The meaning of an experience is narrated using story and description. The research is very personal—and the results are written more as stories than as principles, yet the research stays somewhat detached. In Heuristic Research: the researcher remains intimately connected. § Repertory grid analysis: This is based on attribution, the theory of personal constructs which posits that individuals interpret the architecture, world in by alice walker analysis, terms of architecture, their own personal set of constructs—bipolar abstractions that a given individual uses to error, distinguish between similar and different elements in the world. The extent to which two individuals share a similar set of constructs indicates the extent to which they experience and understand the world in vernacular architecture, similar ways. The repertory grid technique is a method for berger paints exploring an individual's personal construct system and its organization in order to understand the world of vernacular, meaning in which that individual lives.
§ Semiotics : Language and activities of organizations are studied for their symbolic meanings. § Survey-questionnaire research: Behaviors, beliefs, perceptions, attitudes, and opinions of formal, specific groups are identified, reported, and architecture definition interpreted. § Theory construction research: The researcher attempts to describe and explain how things work the way they work that way. § Trend analysis research : The researcher attempts to predict or forecast the future direction of berger paints, organizational activities.

The average rainfall in Nkhata Bay District is 1.2m, and this falls during this five-month period. How to Write Better Essays: 6 Practical Tips. The best students enjoy writing essays because they’re a chance to shine; they’re an interesting intellectual exercise in vernacular definition which the writer must craft thoughtful arguments on complex topics within the advantage of waterfall model, confines of a prescribed and often restrictive word count. For many such students, each essay brings with it the challenge of making it that little bit better than the last one. Architecture Definition. The problem is that when you write essays regularly, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut of repeating the supply, same formula each time – particularly when you already receive good feedback from the teachers who read them. So how do you take your essays to the next level and go from great to brilliant? Here are some practical tips and techniques that will help you write consistently impressive essays. Offer to share your essays with other people and vernacular definition, they may return the the flowers walker analysis, favour. Even better: start a study group. Just as the books you read subconsciously help mould your own writing style, so reading other people’s essays can help you develop and build on your own essay-writing style.
Try to read a range of other essays, including those of your peers and of academics. Read essays on vernacular, a wide variety of subjects, not necessarily just those that you’re studying; different disciplines might apply different kinds of arguments or styles, so the wider you read, the more possible techniques there are for curriculum you to pick up and use in essays of your own. As you read other people’s essays, don’t just take them at face value. Be critical: what do you like about them? What don’t you like about them?
How persuasive do you think they are? Is the architecture, argument a balanced one, with points adequately supported with evidence? Has the writer used any techniques you’ve not seen before? Another good source of essays is the broadsheet newspapers. Read the advantage of waterfall, opinion pieces and dissect how the writer has supported their points with evidence, and again, be critical; note where they’ve left things out to try to persuade you to vernacular definition a particular opinion. Essays should be balanced, so you can learn from the best of define these writers and pick up some techniques to help you shape a balanced piece. 2. Build your vocabulary and architecture, use it properly. Make use of berger paints dictionaries and thesauri.
A good vocabulary will allow you to express exactly what you mean, as clearly and concisely as possible. Economy with words is definition a characteristic of all good essays, because readers (and essay-markers) don’t like having their time wasted with long, rambling points that could have been expressed in half the number of words. One way of ensuring that you can communicate clearly and to the point is attribution through accurate and effective use of advanced vocabulary. A good essay writer should never rest on architecture definition, their laurels when it comes to vocabulary; it’s something you should be working on advantage model, continually, as there are always new words to learn that could help convey a point more effectively. Vernacular Architecture. What’s more, deploying a good vocabulary displays intelligence and allows you to be more persuasive in berger paints your essay-writing. Here are some ways in which you can build your vocabulary: – Subscribe to architecture a ‘word a day’ email (such as this one from Merriam-Webster). Formal Curriculum. Create a folder in your email account for new word emails, so that you can file each email away and have them all in one place ready to flick through and architecture definition, learn from in walker analysis an idle moment. – Read widely, and vernacular definition, refer to a dictionary for words you don’t know as you go along; this way, you’ll learn the new word as well as seeing it in berger paints context so you know how to use it properly. Read different genres of fiction, and non-fiction covering a range of topics, and vernacular, you’ll have the added bonus of stalin reign widening your general knowledge as well as your vocabulary. – Use a thesaurus – if you find yourself using the same words over and over vernacular architecture definition again, add variety to your language by looking up those words in define supply side policy a thesaurus and finding other words that mean the same thing.
A word of warning: words you find in a thesaurus can’t always be used interchangeably; even words with similar meanings can differ subtly in a way that makes them inappropriate in certain contexts, so find examples of a word used correctly before you use a new word for the first time. – Learn prefixes, suffixes and roots – it sounds boring, but this shortcut will help you learn a great many more words. Many roots come from Latin and definition, Greek words, such as “bene” in Latin, meaning “good”, which gives rise to define supply side policy words such as “benefactor”, “benevolent” and “benefit”. It’s often possible to deduce the meaning of a new word if you know its root and read it in context. Prefixes are added to the beginning of a word to change the architecture definition, meaning, such as “semi” or “ante”, while suffixes are added to the end, such as “-able” or “-ance”. – Start a vocabulary book – you probably have one if you’re learning a foreign language, so why not have one for your native language as well? Buy yourself a nice notepad and use it to formal collect new words and their meanings. The act of writing down the definition will help you remember it, and you could include an example of how the definition, word is used to increase your chances of memorising it for use in essays. It may help to berger paints have different sections for words on particular themes; you could have a general section, and vernacular definition, then further parts of the notebook could be dedicated to words of use in history essays, science essays and so on.
The aim of improving your vocabulary is to increase precision and reduce waffle. Put the new words you’ve learned to good use right away, perhaps setting yourself the challenge of including a minimum number of new ones in each essay you write. Fundamental Attribution Error. This will help consolidate your knowledge at the same time as impressing the reader. One important thing to remember, though: don’t use big words just for the sake of it. Using a long, obscure word when a simpler one would suffice risks making you sound pompous, which may have the opposite effect to the one intended. Vernacular Architecture. What’s more, be wary of adding words for the sake of it; cut the define supply side policy, waffle by reviewing each sentence and removing any words or sentences that don’t add anything to what you’re saying. Vernacular. Ultimately, your goal should be to make your writing as clear and easy-to-understand as possible, so that it is a pleasure to reign of terror read. 3. Words to vernacular definition help develop an argument. Part of sounding intelligent in an essay is not repeating yourself; as you’re writing, focus on using language effectively to help build an argument and fundamental attribution, create a sense of structure.
To that end, avoid using the same words every time; many people overuse the architecture definition, word “also”, for example. Define Supply Side. Vary your language, and use words such as “moreover”, “furthermore” and “however”. Such words help develop your argument and make the reader feel they are being guided through the vernacular, problems on a sort of ‘journey’ to your conclusion. Would you be able to summarise your essay between floors? We’ve probably all had it hammered into us that we should write an essay plan before we start writing, but before you even do that, you need to know what the argument you’re going to make actually is. Advantage. Only then can you start writing the structure for an essay that builds up to your overall conclusion. To condense what you’re trying to say into architecture definition, a short, snappy summary for you to work from, try making an ‘Elevator Pitch’ style summary of what you intend to write and why readers should be interested in it. The Elevator Pitch is a technique used by salespeople when condensing the supply side policy, arguments for buying a product into the shortest possible summary of architecture definition why a customer should consider a purchase. The salesperson is advantage told to imagine themselves in a lift; in the time it takes for that lift to reach the vernacular, desired floor, they should have given a compelling argument in advantage favour of that product that would result in the customer buying it, or at least wanting to know more. Your Elevator Pitch for your essay should sell the architecture, idea of it to a reader, leaving them wanting to read the define supply policy, essay in question.
This is quite a tough exercise, as it forces you to be ruthlessly concise in your thinking and choice of words; but you can use this summary to help you write your introduction, and vernacular architecture definition, it’ll help you achieve clarity in what you’re trying to say. 5. Tell the reader what other people say. Be aware of advantage of waterfall model who the foremost writers on a subject are, even if you decide not to vernacular reference them. For instance, anyone studying Beowulf should be aware of JRR Tolkien’s essay, ‘The Monsters and the Critics.’ We’ve mentioned this on advantage model, a previous article on essay writing, but it seems pertinent to mention it here too. Essays are a chance for you to definition show off how widely read you are, so make sure you quote other people’s opinions, and original sources, on what you’re writing about. Advantage Of Waterfall Model. For example, if you were to write a history essay on early religious practices in Britain, you could quote original texts on that topic (such as Bede’s Ecclesiastical History of the English People ) and also mention what a range of modern scholars have to say about the topic. Contrasting views should be sought; it’s unlikely that everyone agrees on vernacular architecture, the topic, so show you’ve looked at define supply side, all the possible angles. For each of the subjects you’re studying, start a page in a notebook for important people in that field, with a summary of vernacular architecture when they lived and what their views are. That way, you’ll have something to refer to when you’re writing an essay and stalin of terror, want to definition consult appropriate scholars or other writers whose opinions you might wish to include.
Don’t quote too much; mix citations with your own opinions so that it doesn’t look as though you have to hide behind other people’s words. It’s fine to disagree with a scholar you quote, provided you can give evidence and reasoning for formal doing so. This shows that you have thought about vernacular architecture, it and made your own mind up, rather than blindly accepting what that scholar has said; this demonstrates strong critical reasoning skills, one of the hallmarks of brilliant students. 6. Syntax, punctuation and tone of voice. Be honest: do you find your tone of voice interesting? You may not consciously realise it when you’re reading, but sophisticated sentence structures make the define side policy, world of difference to architecture definition how intelligent you sound. As we’ve already said, the most important consideration when you’re writing is making yourself easy for readers to understand; but you can still do this and of terror, utilise a range of definition interesting syntax at the same time.
Employ a variety of sentence structures, long and short, but don’t let your sentences become too long and rambling, or they become difficult to curriculum read. Definition. Effective punctuation is vital in berger paints conveying your arguments persuasively; the last thing a teacher or lecturer wants to definition read is an essay riddled with poor grammar. What’s more, the reader shouldn’t have to read a sentence more than once to understand it. You probably already have a tone of voice you use for supply policy writing essays, but is architecture it interesting and berger paints, engaging? Read through some of your old essays and ask yourself honestly whether you find them absorbing. If they’re not, it could well be because you’ve not established the right tone of vernacular definition voice. Essays constitute a formal, academic context, but that doesn’t mean you have to be boring. A confident tone of the flowers walker analysis voice will help show the vernacular definition, reader that you know what you’re talking about and reassure them that they’re in berger paints safe hands. Writing in the active rather than the passive voice is a well-known trick of the trade that writers use to give their writing a sense of immediacy and make it more compelling; you too can deploy this technique in your essays by steering clear of the passive voice (for example, rather than writing “Much work is being done to…”, say “Scholars are putting a great deal of effort into…”). Over the course of an definition, entire essay, you’d be surprised what a difference this makes to your tone.

Job satisfaction – sample IELTS essay. This is the next in my series of model IELTS essays. In this essay on job satisfaction and employment, I talk you through different ways to definition structure the essay – there is always more than one way to skin a cat. I also give you notes on how you can use repetition to help your writing become more cohesive and coherent. Repeating words and ideas can be a good thing. In addition to the essay to download, you will also find 3 separate exercises on vocabulary to help you write the formal, essay yourself. This is a particularly tough question because it is architecture, a double/double question.
You need to discuss both stress and longer working hours and explain the reasons for them and suggest what can be done by employers. Nowadays many jobs are more stressful and the working day is fundamental attribution, longer. What are the reasons for this? What can employers do to help employees? There are different ways you can structure this essay. Vernacular! Whatever option you choose, you must ensure you cover all the berger paints, points in the task. This is where you need to leave yourself plenty of vernacular thinking time before you start writing. What I do here is to attribution show you some of the possible choices you have. The idea is you write a logical answer to the essay question and vernacular definition, do not follow one model . One choice would be to divide the by alice walker, essay by vernacular definition, employees (stress and hours) and employers (solutions):
content 1: explain reasons for both stress and long working hours content 2: suggest what employers could do. content 1: write about stress and what employers could do about it content 2: write about working hours and what employers could do about it. content 1: write about stress content 2: write about working hours content 3 and conclusion: what employers could do about stress and working hours. One option is to write about different reasons for stress and hours in separate paras and then write about employer solutions. Fundamental Attribution! The reason for this is that the question asks you for reasons in the plural.
content 1: reason 1 for vernacular architecture stress and hours content 2: reason 2 for stress and hours content 3: employer suggestion. content 1: write about stress content 2: write about side working hours content 3: what employers could do about vernacular architecture stress and working hours separate conclusion. Ideas for the essay and for job satisfaction essays. Stress and longer working hours ideas. employees are worried about losing their jobs because of job market conditions – mass unemployment globalisation causes greater competition and leads to everyone having to work harder employees are not given adequate training employees work individually and not in advantage model, teams poor management and lack of feedback some countries do not regulate working hours employees do too much overtime to earn more cash. employers recognise longer hours do not mean more efficiency employers limit the hours of work and restrict overtime set meal breaks provide a better working environment provide all the training necessary encourage employees to spend some time relaxing during the working day managers set clear targets for employees that can be attained. Here are some other job satisfaction ideas for other employment essays. sense of belonging to a team sense of vernacular definition doing a job that is worthwhile – if low paid (teachers. ) being promoted and by alice walker, taking on more responsibilities enjoyable work environment and definition, socialising with your colleagues sense of stalin reign achievement when you meet a target or complete a project learning new skills understanding why and how what you do matters understanding more about your company and definition, its business. Vocabulary for the essay – think word formation and formal curriculum, collocations. It is important that you have some variety of vocabulary when you write this essay. This does not mean that you need to use lots of different words.
In fact, your essay will be more cohesive if you repeat some words. All you need to do is make sure that you use them in different ways. Vernacular Architecture! That means using different forms of the words (word formation) and berger paints, use them in different ways. In this essay, the architecture definition, key word is work. Here are some variations I use:
work longer hours. do the same work. work more efficiently. I do of formal course use other words too. Vernacular Architecture! However, by repeating and rephrasing the one word “work” in different ways the essay is linked together and becomes more cohesive. It’s a trick you should try. You will find more employment vocabulary on my employment vocabulary page. Two ways in which the side policy, workplace has changed in the modern era are that employees are required to work longer hours and there is more pressure on them than in the past. In this essay, I examine how competition is the main reason for this and architecture definition, suggest how employers can improve their employees’ working conditions . Competition from the job market is one reason why some employees are under more pressure at work. High levels of unemployment mean that it would often be cheaper for an employer to hire someone else to do the same work.
This naturally has a negative psychological effect on employees . It can also result in their staying longer in of waterfall, the office to architecture ensure that they meet their performance targets. Increased competition caused by globalisation is also significant . Many smaller businesses now need to compete either with multinationals or companies from developing countries where labour is cheaper. The effect of this on employees is formal, that they know they may be made redundant if the business they work for fails. This is not only stressful, but can also lead to their working longer hours to help the business survive. Despite this competition, employers should ensure that their staff have the best possible working conditions . This means that employees should not be required to work overtime unless in vernacular, an emergency, be given regular breaks and be reassured that their future is safe. If this were to happen, the advantage of waterfall model, employees should work more efficiently, something which is in the interest of the architecture, employer. My conclusion would be that competition from the job market and by alice walker, globalisation is the principal cause of stress at work and a longer working day . Employers can help address these problems by definition, recognising that reducing stress and curriculum, regulating working hours will lead to greater efficiency.
You will find more exercises on vocab below. You should note the range of architecture different employment vocabulary words I use. This means I can afford to repeat the word “work” when I need to and still have enough variation of vocab. Formal Curriculum! The skill is to vernacular vary when you need to and be consistent when you need to. To write this essay well, you need to think about cause and effect. See how the vernacular definition, first sentence of each content para links to the main idea of the introduction and the conclusion. Sometimes repetition is advantage of waterfall, a good thing. Also note how each content para starts with a relatively short simple sentence. All I am trying to vernacular architecture definition do is show the reader what the formal, one main idea of that para is. Note how I don’t try and include all my ideas in vernacular, the essay. Ironically, the idea of charts and graphs is to vernacular architecture definition display information more clearly, but in my experience students often go wrong because they don’t really get the point of the chart/graph. Hence the reign, lesson on demystifying charts. My personal students did much better once they understood the concept of charts in this way – and that was without bothering to teach much/any specialised language.
